Bad Dream

Do you ever have a bad dream at night and you can’t shake it off? No more coffee for me after dinner!

The Qatteri Cat also had a restless night, and it was nearly dawn before we both drifted off into deepest sleep.

I dreamed I was living in a new place, a very spacious place, and then the doorbell rang and people came to deliver new furniture. It was like when I was an Army wife – I had no notification, and had not made any arrangements for where the new furniture would go. And yet the furniture was here and I had no choice and had to quickly make a place.

The furniture was awful! Awful! Stuff I would never have chosen in a million years, and I felt so depressed thinking “how am I supposed to live with this furniture? I don’t like this furniture!” And I wanted to send it all back.

Now that I write it down, it sounds absurdly funny, but I woke up feeling powerless and angry and sad all at the same time. Now what’s that all about?

  1. Its the moon . High tide… i don’t know if you believe, but human body is 60% water, so obviously ‘high tide’ affects our thoughts/dreams… ( google ‘ full moon effects ‘)

  2. Maybe you’re just at a time in your life where you have to make certain life-altering decisions and subconsciously you don’t feel you’re ready yet! Maybe a move to a new place? Some risky investment? You know!

Dreams are just the brain’s way of processing things that overcrowd it when it’s awake. They speak to your insecurities (permanent or temporary ones).

    Just a thought!

  4. It definitely sounds like something with you that doesn’t fit. It is either like how encumbered you are with something in your life, or how your surroundings/environment are not jiving with you. Either way, maybe Feng shui? 🙂
    Best wishes!

  5. Wow, sounds like the ones I still have even after 2 years of retirement. I think it is your subconscious percolating about your future!

  7. Grey – or maybe the change in atmospheric pressure resulting in all this humidity? I feel better today.

Kinan – Hmmmm. I will have to think about that. I’m not normally the anxious type.

Ahhh. . . Jewaira, I would love to think that it is the heat. 🙂

Hmmmm. . . Carly, it’s definitely a lack-of-control dream, isn’t it? Yeh, maybe it’s time to rearrange the furniture!

Momcat – maybe! Thank God I don’t have those exam dreams anymore, where I have to take the final in a class I thought I had dropped!

Ansam – me too. I tell myself I am being silly, but telling myself something doesn’t make the bad feelings go away.

Thank you all for coming by an helping me out. I feel better today!

  9. Oh Mrm, paint, wall paper, light fixtures, tiles – glass brick – those are the stuff of my DREAMS, not my nightmares. I LOVE hardware and housewares and renovations! I would be delighted to be furnishing a house!

I think it was a lack-of-control dream. Probably related to those falling dreams, which, if you are creative, you can turn into flying dreams. It may also have been a change of atmospheric pressure; I am sensitive to that. Thanks for making me smile.
