Rapists Arrested

From today’s Arab Times:

2 wanted Bedouns involved in ‘rape’ case held

Kuwait : Personnel from the Law Enforcement Department have arrested two Bedouns who had been sentenced in absentia for life imprisonment with hard labor for their involvement in kidnapping and raping an unidentified expatriate woman, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily did not give more details.

I don’t know how the system works here, but it is a great step forward when rapists are arrested and jailed. These two have already been convicted, so we can hope they will be off the streets for a while.

  1. Hmmm, was there any DNA testing involved, cause if not this can mean you or me can be Incarcerated for similar crimes, on the mere say of a witness with (W).

  3. Hellraiser, is that true? My understanding is that in Kuwait, few women will report rapes because of the damage to their reputation and that of their family. I don’t know how these men were convicted, but it implies evidence . . . you might know more about the legal processes than I do.

Ansam, I have heard that is true, except that some people with relatives in the police system, or fathers in high places never get arrested for drug usage. Is that true?

  6. You are right, Ansam – I think he was dealing, wasn’t he? And the Emir said “no one is above the law.”

Thank you, Abdul Aziz. I didn’t know there were drug rehab facilities in Kuwait. Do you know anything about their rate of success?
