Here There and Everywhere

Sunrise 17 Sep 08

Such a change from yesterday! Still a little hazy, off in the distance, but beautiful silvery-gold shimmer on the water, and the temperature still hasn’t broken 100°F – the weather is shifting, you need only the eyes to see!

Thanks be to God for a beautiful day in Kuwait!

  1. OK, not related to this post, but how do I check my stats in wordpress?

  2. LOL because I know why you’re asking.

Go to your dashboard page (I assume you are on WordPress?) On your dashboard page there are a bunch of words near the top, including Blog Statistics.

    Click blog stats.

That takes you to a page with a big graph where you can see your stats by day, week or month. In the right hand column under the graph, you will see your top posts. If you click on the Header, it will show you all your posts, by day, by 7 days, by 30 days, by quarter, by year, and for all time. (All time with WordPress that is)

At the bottom left of the page is a summary of statistics, and a little grey block/button that says Summary Tables. You will see a whole bunch of stats by month, week and year with daily/weekly/monthly averages, percentages, etc. Fascinating stuff.

Also, just over to the right on the page Here There and Everywhere, you will see a small block called STAT COUNTER. That is another program that tracks stats, tracks your viewere, gives you all kinds of ways to see what people are looking at, who comes back, etc. It tracks from midnight to midnight, where as WordPress tracks from 3 am to 3 am so the stats look a little different.

Use that little four letter word and you’ll get a spike every time.

  3. Hello again
I wrote to you a while ago before I moved to Kuwait. I am now a teacher at AIS. I still enjoy reading your articles, but from an obviously different “Side”.
Just wondering would it be possible to meet for coffee some afternoon (after Ramadan obviously)
Not that I’m a “stalker dudette” but I would appreciate buying you coffee and talking with you.
If not, then I’ll continue reading and enjoying your blog.
Signed, “a fan” formerly from Minnesota
    now in the Middle East

  5. Oh Nadine, I am so glad you wrote. I just visited your blog, Kuwait Kuwait Don’t Tell Me (I think Wait Wait! Don’t tell me! is recorded in SEattle for NPR) and had a lot of fun catching up with your adventures coming here to Kuwait.

People like you who come with your minds open and who plug yourself into this new adventure are sure to get the most out of it. No, not every adventure will be a lot of fun, but they will all contribute to a huge mosaic that will come into focus . . . and you will realize how much you have learned and how far you have come from Minnesota!

I blog under a pseudonym for a reason, and don’t meet up with other bloggers. That said, I bet we run into one another one of these days. šŸ™‚

  10. Purg – We already did. You didn’t know it was me, LLLLOOOLLLLL!

Daggero – I think I will make you my official co-host and welcomer! LOL about us foreigners getting on the road and driving slow (like the speed limit). Please add AND NO TEXTING! Recent study showed texting more debilitating to driving skills than drinking or drugs. No kidding!

iRise – No. No! NO! I can’t bear it!

Darlene – Thanks for the invite; I see your site is a commercial site and I don’t sell my photos. People steal them right off my blog all the time. šŸ˜‰ Plus, God gives us the sunrise – for free!

  12. Oh Mr. Daggero, I slept badly last night and so I slept in a little bit this morning and missed the sunrise! When I got up – maybe 0745 – it was clear and crisp looking, and BEAUTIFUL! So send me the photo YOU took and I will publish it! šŸ™‚
