  1. ya salaam Doha looks gorgeous. those twisty buildings look to me like the Skidmore Owings & Merrill designs for the replacement twin towers. I know their designs were taken up somewhere in the Gulf after being rejected in New York, but I thought they were to be built in Dubai. do you know anything about them?

    we must schedule a trip there again, once the museum is finally open :-). it won’t be as intimate as the Tarek Rajab but its collection must be tremendous.

  2. There is a new museum out over the Gulf; blocky, not as attractive as the model we saw. I’m not sure it’s even open yet. I haven’t seen any sign of the new Islamic Museum going up at all – that was going to be the truly gorgeous one.
