Qatteri Cat in the Dog House

Last night, Qatteri Cat had what we call the cat-crazies. I think he misses my husband, who chases him around, throws his ball, tosses him on his back and rubs his tummy. We hang out together, but I’m not so much FUN as Adventure Man.

So last night, just minutes after I had turned out my light, I heard a great !!!CRASH!!! I knew what it was, as I could hear crunchings, tinglings and things falling even as I “rushed to the scene” (and a tip of the hat to the Kuwait Times who use that phrase endlessly).

Here is what it looked like before:

It was late at night. I couldn’t deal with it. I found a large sheet and covered the mess and went back to bed. Qatteri Cat was too embarrassed, he hid until he thought I was asleep, and then came in – he was cold – to sleep snuggled up next to me.

This morning, I faced this:

The cross at the top of the tree is broken, but I think me and Mr. Elmer can fix it:

Of course, any of you who have cats and understand their little pea-sized brains, will know that this morning the Qatteri Cat is totally mystified as to how this carnage happened.

That’s him, skulking back behind the newly upraised tree, still a little embarrassed and hoping I don’t remember he did it.

  1. oh my gosh ya khalti I am howling laughing. my father always used to entertain us with stories of the dogs they had growing up, including one – a big old water spaniel – who used to “get back to nature” by napping under the Christmas tree. Someone would slam a door or drop something and Jiggs would jump up, startled out of his dreams, and … the tree would come down.

what I really love is QC’s combination of curiosity (“oh MY! what happened here?”) and guilt (“my brain is too small for me to really remember, but I have a suspicion that I was involved in this>”). 🙂

  5. Little Diamond – QC asks when you are coming back?

Sultana, thank you, the tree is fine, now. QC helped me clean up, too. 😉

3baid – he does “innocent” so well!

AbdulAziz – You are right! He even has a specific face for playing innocent, lowered head with big eyes looking up. It’s hard to stay mad when he looks guilty and innocent at the same timem hee hee hee.

  6. Hehe! Our cat did the same thing years ago. The good news is that he only did it once. I think the tree falling scared him straight.

P.S. Nice tree and I like the stars on the windows as well. 🙂

  9. Stinni – My tree is so SMALL compared to your fabulous tree. Readers, click on Stinni and see her beautiful tree.

Fonzy – I am so honored to be included on your blogroll. I was too shy to ask, thinking you kinda had to be a part of a special crowd to be included. You have made my day.

  11. Well, it was certainly a pretty tree in the first picture!
Shame on you Q-Cat! 😛 Hilarious post and typically feline antics!
I like the way you covered it with a sheet though!

  12. Lady J – we do what we have to do. I’m not at my best in the middle of the night, certainly not eager to clean up a mess that includes tiny shards of colored glass. Everything was manageable the next morning, and I could even laugh. . . QC was so mystified!
