At Iftaar

You are breaking your fast, and we are king of the road! What’s not to love about Ramadan? You get all the spiritual rewards of fasting and praying, you get friends and family. We get the brief miracle of clear roads, available parking spaces and uncrowded malls. What’s not to love about this arrangement?

This is the road in front of us just as you are sitting down for Futoor:

  4. I lost count of those who shoot through red lights trying to get home on time. Lost count of those I pissed off by hogging the road while I drive at a sedated speed.

Gotta love that time when K-Town is a ghost town at that time.

  5. Sorry, Purgatory, I was taught to write that heavy t with a th. So, it is Iftaar, for you.

Kaos, you are so right! Even after futoor has started, there are a few racing to get home.

Blue Dress – you are right – there is a window of about an hour and a half to two hours. And I think it will get even better these last ten days of Ramadan, no?

Я- That is SO scary, running a red light. We live near a road where running a red light is the habit rather than the rule. sometimes people HONK at us for stopping!! Good for you, Mr. Sedate-man!

  9. Looks like a good deal. I will promote the idea of having Ramadan three times a year.

Oh wait… I withdraw what I said. More of Ramadan means more smoking to me. :/

  10. Sometimes being in the minority is a good thing! My Jewish grandparents got married on December 25th, which just so happens to be Christmas Day for the Christians. I’m sure the traffic was much lighter, and everyone had the day off work anyway!

  11. Oh Mac, is it still such a struggle? I am so sorry to hear that.

Maria – what a hoot! Yes, you are right, the roads would be lightly travelled!
