Beware: Men in Veils

I know y’all think I am just so very creative coming up with all these titles, but the truth is – I don’t have to! This is the exact title from this morning’s Arab Times.

‘Men in veil’ kidnap, rob woman, rape attempted
KUWAIT : Police are looking for three unidentified persons wearing veils — one woman and two men dressed as women — for kidnapping a 33-year-old Kuwaiti woman, stealing her handbag containing KD 130 and a gold chain, reports Al-Anba daily.
The woman in her complaint told the Fahaheel police the trio bundled her in their Suburban and took her to an unidentified location. One of the men also tried to rape her inside the vehicle.
The trio then tied her and kept her in the vehicle, until the woman went sold the chain in a gold market and returned with the money. Then they dumped her at an unidentified location and escaped.
An Asian passerby reportedly untied the woman after she had been struggling to set herself free for over an hour and a half.

Update – I think this is the same story because so many specifics are the same, but this is how the story appears in the Kuwait Times:

Masked Men Rob, Gag Kuwaiti Woman
A 38 year old Kuwaiti woman registered a complaint with Fahaheel police that, at 9pm, as she walked to her car after a shopping trip, three masked man (sic) dragged her forcibly into a four-wheel drive and kidnapped her. She said the men were also accompanied by a woman wearing aveil who, along the way, snatched a gold bracelet from her wrist and sold it at a jewelry shop. The men snatched her handbag, which contained KD 130 and then tied her arms and legs and abandoned her in a dark open area. An asian expatriate passing by spotted the woman and untied her arms. She later reported the matter to police, and the case is under investigation.

  1. I read it!!!! Thats really scary. Sometimes when I leave work a little later than the rest of the bank I get a little freaked to walk to my car, esp since its in a parking structure and by 4 PM almost everyone is gone.

  2. Chirp, I am not kidding, talk to your management about security for female employees. You should have a security escort to your car, you should NEVER NEVER NEVER be alone after hours walking to your car. It is the management responsibility to keep you safe.

KUWAIT: Police are looking for an English daily affiliated reporter who has allegedly ‘fabricated’ crime news. This reporter has been accused of ‘instigating fear, rumor-mongering and fabricating false news’.

An anonymous source from the Ministry of Interior was quoted to say, “He shall be summarily executed for his heinous crimes.”

    Did that sound convincing? 😛

  5. Hamitaf, welcome. I’m just glad she reported it, but don’t you wonder which version is closest to what really happened?

Rashed, you mean that reporter is MAKING UP those details? The KT one also says the men were “masked”. . .

  7. Makes you think twice about going shopping by yourself, Enigma . . . I would be seriously traumatized. It sounds as if she was also assaulted, although it also sounds like the rapist was not able to complete the act. EEeeeeewwwwwww.

  8. Look I told you so! Muhajabah dudes are on the rise both on the East Coast , West Coast and here in Q8 🙂 The scary thing is because they are Muhajabah they can get away with anything, including attending ladies only wedding receptions, sitting with the ladies in Cinescape movie screenings and trading stock on the KSE from an exclusive trading floor meant for ladies. Wait, and there’s more! I’ve even heard stories about Muhajabah dudes working out in ladies gyms and exchanging notes with fellow Muhajabah dudes on the latest in women’s fashions and accessories.

  9. You’re joking, right, Little Q8? Like in the gyms, aren’t women and men in separate areas? Don’t people wear gym clothes? I can’t imagine a woman using a treadmill in an abaya, or a man, either? Great stories!
