Weight Loss: Fat Burning Beads

I could not believe my eyes. Would you buy these beads? You can read the entire story at BBC Health News.

‘Fat-burning’ bead marketing ends

A company that said its “fat-burning” beads triggered “automatic weight loss” has agreed to stop marketing in the UK.

One claim suggested that Accu-Slim Beads worked “faster than total starvation” by placing one bead behind each ear.

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) sought assurances from Global DM Licensing, based in Hong Kong, that it would stop mailings being sent to UK consumers.

The OFT says thousands fall victim to claims about weight loss products.

Misleading claims
The company, using the name The AccuSlim Centre, claimed the beads were “fat burning acupuncture without needles, diets, exercise or effort”.

It claimed that users could eat as much as they liked but still lose 30lbs in 30 days, as the bead stimulated acupressure points that led to automatic weight loss.

The company claimed guaranteed results and charged £65 for a package of up to 120 beads.

OOps – I just noticed that they only have to stop marketing these beads in the UK. So if someone approaches you on the streets of Kuwait offering to sell you fat-burning beads (wouldn’t you feel like punching someone who thought you needed fat burning beads?) DON’T BUY THEM! THEY DON’T WORK!

  3. Changing your mind can make weight loss “automatic”… but some people opt for talismans. The only science and magic we need is already in our heads.

The deceivers and the deceived… it’s a strange part of life. If you want somethng for nothing, there are people willing to sell a “solution” to you… but you’re the one that gets nothing, and they get something.

  6. 30KD spent in the gym would probably yield more returns, Amu! 😉

Yeh, John, there are a lot of people out there eager to sell a magic way to lose weight.

Joe – I looked at your blog. Way to GO! And you are doing it the right way, portion control and exercise.

    Right, Ansam! 🙂

Lady J – LOL is right, but we all get caught up in hoping the easy way will work, don’t we?

  7. Why not od what the French do? More than half of Americans are overweight and obesity is rare in France -and so is snacking. In France snacking is uncommon and frowned upon. Proper eating habits, exercise and drinking plenty of water is a safer and healthier way to go.

  8. I DO believe in this; I have been using these beads, placed behind my ears and it has been very effective in decreasing my appetite. I follow a strict diet too; milk products for two days, raw vegetables for two days, etc. I am VERY pleased that this is working so well and I think the beads make a difference…who cares! It’s not harmful.

    • My wife has lost 40lbs but now has gastrointestinal problems due to the inability to digest any fats…he gall bladder has slowed down during the diet restrictive part and when she goes to eat regular food in smaller portions she gets nasueasted. She also continues to excercise 1 to 2 hours a day to maintain the weight loss

  14. Product advertised claims to boost metobolism. I am a 50+ years, female, and I walk daily, eat healthy and still can’t lose the extra pounds.
Boosting my metobolism might be the missing factor to my losing weight.
    Thoughts ???

    • The beads have absolutely nothing to do with the diet…seems to be a scam…any idea how to get the gallbladder to ramp up activity again?
