Butterfly Award

butterfly-award

“I’m choosing three blogs to pass it on to and asking that they tell us why they started blogging and then pass the love on to three of their favorite blogs.”

I was nominated for the Butterfly Award by Scars and Souvenirs (I always have a problem spelling “souvenirs!”) and of course, right now while I am travelling and my posts are sporadic and erratic and varying in quality, I feel totally unworthy! Scars and Souvenirs is a very intelligent Syrian blog, written by a woman with a lot of insight and interesting thoughts who lives and works in Damascus, one of my favorite places on earth. I am totally honored she would nominate me.

I discovered blogs when I was moving to Kuwait. I was particularly fascinated by two women bloggers, Jewaira and 1001 Nights (another articulate and intelligent blog; she is, unfortunately, no longer blogging.) I started blogging when my comments began to be longer than the original blog entry and I figured it was time. It was very scary for me, and I made a lot of mistakes with the new technology, but persevered.

There are new bloggers showing up all the time. I would like to nominate three that have fresh, original voices, authentic voices, and from whom I learn more about Kuwait:

Kill the Damn Patient
Danderma’s Blog
Confessions of a Love-Struck Flana

  4. Oops didn’t see the first part of the post.. I started blogging honestly ‘cos it was just another boring day at work and thought “why not conjure up a flan in the work space” it should make things more interesting, so I did, and he is infact nothing but a fictional character that I made up.. 😉

    Thanks again :$ :*

  5. Ansam – He is funny, fresh, intelligent and fascinating, often in a horrifying way. He is what I love about Kuwait – there is a whole population of young people with ideas and hopes for Kuwait – and they are going to be the implementers of positive change, I can just feel it.

3baid – A great loss to the Kuwait blogging world when she gave it up. I still miss her voice.

Love Struck – You didn’t see it coming? With your intelligence, wit and ability to capture a large audience? With all the comments? With your courage in the face of criticisms? Bless you, dear, and remember – you are blogging for YOU, not for us. Clearly your spare-time musings plucked a chord in many hearts. 🙂

I am a blogger because, well, my friends actually pushed me into the blogging world. They told me i would do great as a blogger since they think i notice a lot of stuff and complain about them a lot (all the time really)… i went ahead and ranted on my blog and voila… My first ever nomitaion… and here i am! One Month LATE (GRRRRRRRR)

  10. LLLOOOLLL! Between toothaches, and travel to London, you’ve been busy, Danderma. But I am still waiting for the rest of the Beauty and the Beast story, which I find totally fascinating. 🙂
