Whatever Floats Your Boat
Actually, I hate that phrase, but today it fits. I looked out the window and laughed – there is a tanker, floating above the horizon. At first, I almost thought it was a balloon. Look! See for yourself:

The day is so clear, I can see the tin roofs on Failaika Island with my bare eye. It isn’t much, but it is the clearest day in a long time:

In today’s Kuwait Times, Dr. Saleh al-Ajeeri tells us that the chances of rainfall are going away because the winds are changing, and that the temperatures are going to fall again. It’s hard for me to believe, on a day like today, warm and sunny and not a cloud in the sky, it’s hard to believe it is going to be cold. Dr. Al-Ajeeri says “The winter season is still going on and the cold will return during a season locally known as the ‘Scorpion’s Cold'” and that we can’t count on higher temperatures until the end of February.
SCORPION’S COLD?? OK, my Kuwaiti friends, I have never heard of that before. Can anyone explain to me what this is? And what it it called in Arabic?

Tanker you say
I’d say fill ‘er up premium , and please scrape the ice on the windows buddy
We laughed as I read it aloud this morning, Daggero, and I said to AdventureMan – I hope we are never at the same dinner table together, the two of you are so alike. 🙂
So what is Scorpion’s Cold?
Good Morning intlxpatr and my alter ego Adventure Man
Scorpion cold is a cold spell associated with the rise of the scorpion stars group(3 stars) one after the other in 13 days intervals .The last part is mild cold .
Here is another interesting cold season name ( The moron has sold his coat or( bisht ) ) yes that’s right that’s the name of the season’s cold in Arabic بياع الخبل عباته .
It is a cold spell in March when weather gets very warm and supposedly only a fool will sell his coat thinking winter is over and then this cold spill catches him off guard .Of course he will be twice the loser if his coat was from Burberry’s . Do you notice that the moron is a male ???
Aha! Scorpio! Got it!
I totally love the name of that second cold spell! We look at those wonderful fur-lined bishaat all the time, wondering how it would work in Seattle, when the house gets a little cold. 🙂 A person would sell his bisht, rather than put it away for the long hot months? LOL that it is a male; tell me, Daggero, I see bisht that also look like they are for females. Do women wear the lined bisht in cold weather? Just in the home, or can it also be worn out in public, instead of an abaya?
Ah where else can you see a magical floating oil tanker ! 🙂
Intlxpatr
females can wear their colorful bishet at home or when they go camping in the desert
Ahhh! Camping in the desert. Oh, what fun. And it gets pretty cold, too! Thank you, Daggero. 🙂
