2. Obama is saying “We look forward to a new relationship with the Arab world” by shaking hands, but in reality he just wants to find a different way of killing the terrorist.

3. Hunh. I’m with you, Khalti. This cartoon doesn’t make sense to me, either – partly because the details are confusing, and partly because I don’t understand who the protagonist is, or who the viewer is meant to identify with.

   Why is Obama extending his left hand to the khaleeji guy?
   Why is the khaleeji guy protecting the terrorist? (And if the man is meant to be resistance, and not a terrorist, why is he wearing a suicide belt and sweating? Why isn’t he pointing his gun back at Obama?)

4. Little Diamond, I think he is extending his right hand to the Arab and his left hand holds the string to the trigger of the machine gun. The way it is drawn it could be confused, but I looked again, and I think I am right. Is the terrorist hiding behind the average citizen? Is Obama extending the hand of friendship and the Arab guy is protecting the terrorist? I can’t figure it out, either.

   Abid, I am guessing your answer is partly right; cannot both be true? Can he want a new way of relating to the Arab world AND a different way of getting rid of the terrorist? And who is a terrorist? In Ireland, now the former terrorists are businessmen and citizens, just like you and me.
