Unbelievably Slow

Since sometime late yesterday afternoon, when I try to get on the internet, it is so unbelievably slow that I can’t do anything. Is it me? Have I caught some kind of virus? Or is there some major slowdown? Aarrgh!

  1. Ironically I’m having one of those rare days where my internet connection is almost like a real internet..I’m downloading files, YouTube videos are playing without buffering pauses….if you don’t have an internet speed check site try this one – http://www.speedtest.net/

Just click on the gold pyramid. I just ran it and am getting 1.91mbps download but problems on upload at 0.13mbps through QualityNet. That may be why I’m getting such high download speeds, QualityNet’s upload/download balance is whacked.

At Speedtest you can also click on any of the other pyramids if you want to test your connections to other places – like the US for instance.

  2. Typical answer… cable cut! No proof though, just a wild guess.

I am ok with Qnet anyhow.

  4. bitJockey – It was horrible yesterday, then I was wide awake at five this morning, a time when my speed is usually lightening fast, but I couldn’t get anything to work – it was like the olden days and dial-up, that bad! It’s all OK now.

Thanks, Bashar, it seems to have worked itself out, whatever it was.

LOL, you were having problems, too, Ansam? Whatever it is, it seems to be working ok now.

Holy smokes, i am less than 100 hits away from hitting 700K!

  5. Looks like the only excuse is “Cable cut”. We’re not that ignorant to know it’s a messed up service and has nothing to do with a mile-deep sea cable.

  6. Thank God, Mac, whatever was giving me such a big headache is finished now, and my speeds are back to normal. 🙂
