I found the paper with the map! How cool is this?

When I look at this, I think if the money ever runs out in Qatar, they will still have invested in a superior infrastructure – education, transportation, roads, parks, attractive public areas, effective policing and traffic control – way more important than luxury malls.

  3. I read about this in the Peninsula last night…My students are desperate to see this happen. It’s too bad they’ll be out of Education City by the time it’s complete.

  5. I probably won’t see it happen, either, AcadeMama, but my heart leaps for joy that someone envisioned it and made it happen for this country, so desperate for public transportation. There used to be cheap taxis everywhere. They probably weren’t the safest but they were ubiquitous! Now – even at the biggest, poshest hotels, if you don’t have the number of a limosine service, you are SOL.

    Error – It is a miracle. Kuwait needs this exact kind of system so desperately, someone with vision could make a fortune – buy up that empty desert land and use it for multi-tiered park and ride lots, air conditioned train ride into the city while you read your book or watch the news . . . From Feheheel all the way into the business district, with branches out to Jahra, the airport, like the London or Paris Metros . . . it would be a dream. In Kuwait, I would love to see a cutting edge system, like above ground.
