AdventureMan Loves Magnolia
I was oblivious. I didn’t even know what a magnolia tree looked like. But AdventureMan grew up in the South, and he has been pointing them out ever since we got here. We watched them as they formed their buds. And now – magnolias are blooming all over Pensacola!

Here There and Everywhere 
I love Magnolias too!
Do you know the Magnolia was the first tree to have invented the flower?
No! Aafke, I had no idea! They strike me as a most generous tree; the flowers are so HUGE! They are as big as dinner plates! So beautiful at this time of year with their huge decorative blossoms, but also through the year with their lovely glossy leaves. 🙂
They are, indeed, lovely to look at, but I do not recommend having one in your own yard. They are ALWAYS dropping something to the ground–leaves, flowers, seed pods…and require lots of cleaning up. Maybe your neighbor across the road will plant one where you can see it from your house 🙂

Magnolias are one of my absolute favorites! They remind me of my grandmother, the one who taught me lots about cooking and all sorts of other things. I love them because just one magnolia flower is simple, fragrant, and beautiful enough to sit in a small dish all by itself and charm everyone in the room 😀
All of a sudden, though, those magnificent magnolias are going kind of dirty, dropping leaves, and . . . not so pretty. But they look like Christmas trees with white decorations at their peak. 🙂
They are gorgeous… but as mentioned: They’re a perfect ‘gift’ to buy for your neighbour opposite 🙂
LLLOOOLLLL! Fortunately for us, most of our neighbors have magnolias, and we can enjoy theirs. 🙂
We have lovely pink magnolias in Kelowna BC, but they won’t be in full bloom for about another week. First we get the Japanese Cherry Trees. I’d never seen a real magnolia until we moved to the Okanagan… I agree with AdventureMan – they’re amazing.
They are not so pretty in our neighborhood anymore, DaisyMae . . . once they have peaked, they get kind of soiled looking. But they are magnificent in bloom, aren’t they? Oooooh! Cherry blossoms!
