3. LLOOLL, Yousef, I discipline myself not to listen to Christmas music before October 15th! After that, It’s all Christmas until Epiphany (6 January) 🙂

   What are your favorites? Do you have a favorite style? I love some of the very old music – which came back to Europe from the Holy Lands in the crusades, along with such niceties as bathing, and arches and domed architecture. 🙂

   Grammy, Yes! I feel the same way! When will this happen in Pensacola??

   • Well my favorites are by nat cole king and Mariah carey. I love the jazzy eerie feel I get from king’s songs and I love the vocals and reverence on Mariah’s. Those two’s songs transcend religion and language barriers

     I don’t like current sounding songs.. Christmas songs shouldn’t sound current and fady!

     How about recommending some of your favorites? By name and not style so I can look them up 🙂

4. One of my all time favorites is something I found – not expensive – years ago, Welcome Christmas! by Philip Brunelle. You can still find it used, on Amazon:

   I love the arrangements of John Rutter, light, ethereal, the voices weaving lightly back and forth:

   I also like instrumentals by Mannheim Steamroller and by Wyndham Hill, for times when I want music but don’t want to be distracted by the words. 🙂

   If you like the great chorus from above, you might want to listen to the entire Messiah, by Handel – is is operatic, and lyrical, and you will find yourself humming pieces from it all day long. It uses the words from the prophet Isaiah. 🙂

   The notes, too, Momcat. 🙂 Actually, my very favorite parts of The Messiah are not the Halleluja chorus, but the “for unto us a child is given . . . and his name shall be called WONDERFUL! COUNSELOR!
