Oops! Five Year Blogaversary Almost Slipped Past

Holy cow, how could I forget my own blogoversary? Five years. When my son and daughter in law got married, they had a cake that totally knocked my socks off. I wish I could think of a good occasion to have a cake like this made . . . not so much to eat, but oh, they are so beautiful!

We’ve been through so much together – three years in Kuwait, a move to and another year in Qatar, and then the move, about 18 months ago, to Pensacola. These cakes are good reminders of all three countries, loaded with the blessings of blue skies, sand, glorious seas and seashells. Join me in a bite of cake πŸ™‚

Pensacola, with the light house πŸ™‚

    5 years already , Mashallah ,

wishing you many happy returns . Your postings were interesting to me in the beginning to know how the Expats look at living in Kuwait , later on you moved to Qatar ,so it was another window on another country , your move back to the states also was full of events like the BP oil spill ,remember that .

I also enjoyed your photos of crafts fairs , one of my favorite was a photo of a lady and her daughter sitting together knitting happily . It must have been in a fair in Washington state .Also the photos of the your family kids visiting in thanksgiving sitting in a bucket were really nice

I would like to thank you and Adventure Man for being good sports and for putting up with some comments that may have sounded rude or wacky .

    God Bless you

  2. Daggero, I hope you know, we love your comments. Sometimes I will hear AM chuckling in the next room, and it is some comment you have made.

I am always astonished that things I include that I think people will find boring, they like. I never never know.

Of all the countries I’ve lived in, the one thing I’ve learned, over and over again, is that we are all a lot more alike than we are different. πŸ™‚

  3. Happy Blogoversary. Your blog is certainly unique thats filled with lots of diverse and useful information. Even though I haven’t commented much, I have been following since your last days in Kuwait. I enjoyed the daily Sun rise pics you used take. It really says a lot about you as a person, always looking at the bright side of things.

You go ahead and have a piece of cake for me, I’m on a no refined sugar diet :).

Looking forward to the 10th Blogoversary.

  5. Ahlan wa sahlan, Bader. I remember when I used to have 500 hits by 10 in the morning; I could use StatCounter to see where they were coming from and probably 90% were universities. I always knew it was Kuwaiti students, wanting to see the sun over the Arabian Gulf. I loved doing that, and loved giving them just a little sight of that day in Kuwait. πŸ™‚ I don’t eat the cakes, either, but I love the seashell cakes that people can do now. I also remember some of the spectacular wedding cakes people had in Kuwait! Breath taking!

Good morning, Ken! Can you still see the sunrise from your apartment in Kuwait? πŸ™‚
