50 Amazing Weather Photos from 2012
I’m kind of a weather nerd. It goes with liking Geography, and maps, and navigation, I guess. You can see a series of truly amazing photos at SKYE for AOL.
Here is one of my favorite photos – a long time ago, I lived in Heidelberg, and I can remember the Neckar river freezing, but not this hard.
Here is another, taken in Florida, called Fire Rainbow. I have never seen this kind of reflection, but oh . . . I would love to see it!

The Heidelberg photo is great. Do you know when it was taken? I lived in Heidelberg in the 1950s and later and the river froze twice in the 50s. Or is photo from Feb. 2012 when I think it also froze?
i believe the photo is from 2012; I believe that series is the best weather photos of 2012. Heidelberg was a very special place to live for so many Americans, now all the American places are closing, including the American high school – this year, and the functions being transferred to other posts. Amazing, who woulda thunk it?
So true what you say. I lived in HD for 7 years myself (in two pieces) and love it, and I now edit a newsletter for people who went to high school there from 1946-65…. No one would have thought it would be active for 68 years – but now that it is closing it seems too soon. Certainly it’a the end of an era but the US facilities are apparently not needed now for defense any more.
I ended up living much of my adult life in pieces here and there in Germany 🙂 and near enough to Heidelberg to go often. When I went to grad school, classes were held in HAHS, and I grinned every time I got to use the teachers restroom. I was in my 30’s, and I still felt like a high school kid using it, like ‘what if I get caught,’ LOL. I’m outside your demographic by a tiny bit, though.
Wow, lucky you, to have been there so much; I’m only a visitor now, and that is different from living there. I do have some very good German friends I’ve known since the 50s, 60s and 70s. Don’t know your demographic but I arrived in Heidelberg at 10 in 1953….
