Mayhem on SVU
One of the funniest things that happened on the opening show of Law and Order SVU, season 14 was that there was an undercover detective screwing up the works, but what made it funny was that he also appears on Allstate insurance commercials as “Mayhem”. I don’t think I can ever see him in an acting role that I won’t think of his as Mayhem, LOL.

UPDATE: Watching an early L&O:SVU episode about a serial killer, there he was – MAYHEM – performing as Detective Cassidy. I said to AdventureMan “That’s Mayhem!” and he checked it on IMDb, and indeed, it was. So Mayhem has a long history with S&O, SVU.

I love these commecials-I think my favorite is the raccoon. You are right–Mayhem has become iconic. When he appears in anything I expect Mayhem. The other one that has become that way is Sam Elliott and his deep voice. Whenever I see him I hear “Beef, it’s what’s for dinner.”
How about the “ex-President” from 24 Hours who now speaks for Allstate? We always say the true test of a commercial is whether you can identify the sponsor and the product – otherwise, it gets attention, but does it raise awareness for the product? We think both Allstate and Geiko have brilliant ad-agencies π
