Clutching My Pearls
I swing between the calmness I feel when I ignore the news, and the horror and despair I feel when I read the news. (I no longer watch the news – I want facts, not opinions, and objectivity, not snark. Not from either side.)
The news that has me metaphorically clutching my pearls in horror is the new campaign ad out in Ohio where Vivek Ramaswamy, a slimy politician disliked even by his own kind, is up against Amy Acton running for Governor. The ad features Amy Acton’s mother, a very sad, bitter old woman calling her daughter, Ramaswamy’s opponent, a liar, and stating Amy has always had a problem with lying.

Documents show that Amy Acton’s problem is her Mother. And her step-father, who raped her as a child. Amy was taken away from her mother, and has had no relationship with her since.
The facts are documented with court cases and legal papers. Amy Acton has never treated her traumatic history as a secret. To put out an ad exploiting this mother’s bitterness and anger in an effort to win a political campaign is despicable.
Our current Vice President, Vance, urges Republicans to swallow their sense of decency and vote for Ramaswamy anyway.
I keep thinking the politicians can’t get worse, and they prove me wrong!
