I loved visiting Sadu House when I lived in Q8. At the time there wasn’t much to do – no big malls, no shopping areas. We also used to go down to Fahaheel (we lived close by in Fintas) to the bedouin camps. (do they still do that or was that because the desert was closed due to the war and remnants – bombs & mines?) We’d bargain with the bedouin ladies over their amazing weavings and they’d try to sell/give me scarves to cover up my bright red hair.
You would be astonished – you were here just post Liberation. Once Saddam Hussein was captured, building here exploded. There are cranes everywhere, and buildings going up. I’ve never seen a Bedouin camp! I see tents in the springtime, but no women selling amazing weavings . . . I wish!
