Kuwait Fish Market Artistry

They’re in! The first of the season’s Kuwait shrimp! Did I buy any – you bet! Shrimp for dinner tonight. Yummmmmmm.

As I was having the shrimp cleaned, we noticed that someone had gone to a lot of trouble to put the fish out attractively. Doesn’t it make all the difference?

  3. Kinan – Look at the Hamra! They look happy! They’re smiling, and look, the one on the right is looking at us slyly!

N – Holy Smokes! You live in the midst of some of the finest shrimp in the world and you don’t eat shrimp? Walditich never makes seafood maachboos?

  4. lol @ seafood machboos! I don’t think we refer to it as that, maybe as emtabbag hamour? I like some grilled fish, some fried, but no crustaceans for me. I tried, but we just don’t get along. Hehe 🙂

  5. Emtabgag hammour? I’ll have to try to remember that. Did you know there are some Moslems that don’t eat shrimp at all? They think it’s haram? I haven’t met any Kuwaitis who think that.

  8. I love crab, but I love great big Alaskan King Crab, and the smaller, sweet Dungeness crab. At the market in Seattle, they will clean them for you and steam them, and then with a salad and a loaf of French bread – a perfect, simple meal.

The crabs here are so small! I mostly use them for stock, for my fish soup and seafood pasta.
