Early Easter

Easter is REALLY early this year. A friend sent me an e-mail explaining why:

Do you realize how early Easter is this year? As you may know
Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring
Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar
that Hebrew people used to identify Passover, which is why it moves around
on our Roman calendar.

Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22) but
that is pretty rare. Here’s the interesting info.

This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the
most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or
above!).

And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here are the
facts:

1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228
(220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you’re 95
or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!)

2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year
2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no
one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this
year!

  1. I am really hungry right now. I would do anything for cheesy mashed potatoes.
Or mashed potatoes with sour cream and chives.
And that Flank Steak sandwich our “american mom” used to make us when she made her Ham for easter.

  2. Oh Chirp, you gave me a big grin. Some of those mashed potatoes – like the garlic ones – are loaded with butter and sour cream and oh, the calories, and oh, they taste so good! I grew up eating flank steak and flank steak sandwiches, too. My mom always made it Teriyaki style – how did your American Mom make it?

  3. God the more I think about calories and fat and stuff I feel FAT but when I just eat without thinking about it, I realize I eat so much less.
I do not know how she made them BUT THEY WERE SO GOOD. I think she marinaded them with some sort of wine, or something and maybe vinager too, and they would be left over night in the fridge. Then we would take hot dog buns and butter them with butter and chives and put the flanksteak in between YUMMMM!!!!
lol and what could u not believe about my post ?

  6. Chirp – You are so lucky, naturally thin. I really have to work at it – like exercise all the time – when I want to be thin. I have to devote my life to it! (I don’t!)

Amu, what was your favorite part?

bbq8 – wouldn’t it be awful if we were? I don’t want to outlive my teeth and my body!
