MacDonalds MacKrisby
This is for my stateside readers. Wherever you go, except for Syria, there seems to be a MacDonalds. The funny thing is, in different countries, they have different specialties, things you never see in the USA. For example, while we lived in Qatar, they had a special called the MacArabia, which was kind of like a local fast food, but on a more Western bun. It was no where near as tasty as the local equivalent, but I think they add things to the menu to appeal to people forced to eat there when the kids insist. I am only guessing; I can’t even remember the last time I had anything from MacDonalds.
In Kuwait, they have added a new sandwich, the MacKrispy, a breaded fried chicken thing, sort of like a great big dry chicken nugget. Because Arabic does not have a “p”, the literal translation of the word (you can see it down by the little golden arches) is MacKrisby.

Isn’t it true that Macdonalds have recently bought into upmarket chain : Pret – a – Manger in Europe but insist on letting them keep their name? What else could be the reason but the fact that they are worried a Macdonalds affiliation would scare off European customers who like taking their food and drink seriously. A fine case in point of staying in power even when you have relinquished it.
About Macdonalds in Kuwait I like how they put a Kuwaiti bun on the whole Macdonald affair by opening their first outlet in Q8 bang opposite a royal palace.
And it is best washed down with a beebsi!
well we have the mc greek here… you can get it in chicken or beef!!! then now with the fasting time so many new vegetarian specialties that i can’t remember! 😛
MacDonalds bought Pret a Manger?? Oh no! That’s one of my favorites! I love their vegetable chips/crisps! And the first MacDonalds in Q8 was in front of a palace? Oh no! We have often wondered, how did all those fast food places get those plum waterfront locations along Gulf Road??

I think the Macs in the states have the MacFlurry, too! I don’t know about the MacRoyal burger . . . Here in Kuwait, people have their photos taken with Ronald!
