Qatteri Cat Good for My Health
BBC Health News this morning tells me the Qatteri Cat is good for my health!
He doesn’t look at all surprised by the news, does he?
Or, the article states further down, it may be that people who choose to adopt cats may have other behaviors which help lower health risks 😉
‘Healthier hearts’ for cat owners
Cat owners appear to have a much lower risk of dying from a heart attack than their feline-spurning counterparts, a study suggests.
Researchers looked at nearly 4,500 adults and found that cat ownership was related to a 40% lower risk of suffering a fatal heart attack.
The team speculated that having a cat may reduce stress and anxiety, and so protect against cardiovascular disease.
The findings of the study were unveiled at the International Stroke Conference.
The study, led by Professor Adnan Qureshi at the University of Minnesota, suggested that even those who no longer owned a cat benefited from these protective effects

Qatteri Cat says he’s doing you a favor for so long!
3baid, you really know how cats think! Yes, ever since he adopted us, he has been very clear on just how lucky we are. 🙂
Ahhh Qatteri cat seems much happier than before 🙂
I should pick up a Persian cat while i am here then 😛
Oh Amu, he is one happy cat, as long as he is warm and as long as he can snooze.
good for me then! 😉 but hey what about if you’re the kind that like most animals! i mean even if you see a mouse you just want to adopt it so it won’t go out and die!??? but ok we just stick with cat’s and gods, once we had a rabbit for few weeks in our bath tub! but we found her a home in the end in a small farm!!!
so back to the question…. what about animal lovers, not just cats??? 😛
NoraCassandra, I bet having any kind of pet is a healthy indicator – just my whacky thought, but maybe loving enough to care is a health factor?
yeh maybe!!! well i see women living to be over 90 in finland and i’m sure their dogs and cats have something to do with it!!! like for god sake how often you see a 93 years old woman walking with help of that thing with four legs which they could even sit on if they got tired (you know what i mean??)… and her dog walking around her slowly doing his thing and being such an amazing friend and company to her??? or sometimes you would see an old woman going to have her walk and there is this fluffy cat running next to her not leaving her side!!!??? i do think they are a reason for a long life, but the trick is to love them, and take care of them !!!
In my part of the world, women live a long time – I see them all walking early in the morning. Maybe it’s the WALKING that helps them live longer??? I want to be one of those long-lived women! 😉
