Saudi Women Only Hotel
From today’s BBC News:
Saudis open hotel for women only
The Middle East’s first women-only hotel has opened in Saudi Arabia.
It will cater primarily to businesswomen, who work completely covered from head to toe in public and have to observe strict segregation.
The hotel, in Riyadh, has 25 rooms and boasts fine dining and conference facilities, as well as a range of health and beauty treatments.
Its executive director said the response to the idea of a hotel just for women had been overwhelming.
The Luthan Hotel & Spa is owned by a group of 20 Saudi princesses and businesswomen.
It hopes to attract expatriates from the nearby diplomatic quarter as well as local women.
It is the first spa hotel in the kingdom available to women all the time – pools in other hotels are only open to women on certain fixed days or hours.

Oh well, at least they will get the chance to have a nice dip in the pool 😛
It looks like a nice hotel!
There is an American chain of 5 star hotels (the name totally slipped my mind) that is planning on having one floor of in each hotel in certain major cities to be exclusive to women. Last time I read about this proposition was last year. They predict that the women’s only floor option would attract more business women that alone travel frequently. It’s a nice sense of security. I wouldn’t want to be bothered by lonely hotel guests on my way back to the room late at night.
This year i noticed that there are woman only taxis in Iran with woman driver. The great thing about it is the job opportunity it has provided for so many single mothers.
GFITW – I often stay in hotels by myself, and I think a women only floor would be nice!
Women only taxis, MP! How wonderful! Taxis are one of the great blessings in this part of the world – in Seattle, taxis are rare, and very costly.
Excellent!it’s really nice to know that I’m not alone on a lot of these things.
My MD today asked me if i know whether Women can travel to KSA and stay in hotels without a male companion there and i remembered this post of yours a while back mentioning a women only hotel in Riyadh…so thanks 🙂
Wooo HOOOOO, Mirror Polisher/ Noushin/ Magical Droplets/Darya! But I think that the mahram thing is something they can pull out of their pocket any time they want to, when they go through one of their “getting tough on women” periods. Hope this hotel is doing well and is up to your doctor’s standards. 🙂
