Never-Ending Sunrise 2 Jan 09
Good morning!
We stayed up late last night watching movies. At my normal time this morning, I woke up and told myself I could go back to sleep, but . . . sleep didn’t come. I don’t know how it works for you – I am a morning person. Once I am awake, I am awake. And it was just about time for a sunrise, so I joined the Qatteri Cat in the living room, and took a photo of a very grey, very cold, day.
I thought yesterday was WARM. I had headed out, all bundled up for winter, with AdventureMan, and we were both warm almost as soon as we got in the car. I had to take off a layer as we ran our errands. Late last night, seeing our guests off, we were both shivering in the cold – the weather changed so quickly.
Here is what it looks like this morning:

Here is the dawning at 0630:

Just 15 minutes later, a whole new sky:

And another 15 minutes it looks like an artist took paintbrush to the sky, giving it highlights and depth and color:

My cholesterol actually came down this year – it wasn’t high, but it was rising. Eating the dreaded oatmeal and more vegetables, less meat seemed to help. When I just can’t stand the thought of another bowl of oatmeal, I fix myself a bowl of Kashi with blueberries, which, for my US viewers, costs around $11 – $12 a box – not a large box – here in Kuwait. I save it for special occasions. 😉

Intlxpatr:
Happy new year to you and the family
About the cost of kashi ,why not get it it from the PX at arifjan since adventure man is ex army, is he not entitled to go to shop at the PX , or maybe through an a friend ( american wasta ) , Also get some butter because i see in some blogs americans get shocked from the price of better here in kuwait .
🙂
LOL, Daggero, that never occurred to me. The PX at Arifjan doesn’t really have that much that interests me. I will admit, I ask him to look for occasional bacon or ham when it is available, or really fine sugar for baking, but other than that, I shop local. I will have to ask him to look for the Kashi. Your note also made me thing – I order special cat food for my cat – I wonder if I could order Kashi and have it mailed to me? LLLOOLLL. You just started a whole new train of thought.
That Kashi actually looks really good!
Bacon ehehehhe ham , i was thinking of healthy stuff
OMG
BTW kashi in kuwaiti means Tiles
wow i never figured kuwait would ever be colder than tokyo!
WineBlog – There are several different kinds of Kashi cereals, and this is a puffed grain, which I really like.
LOL, I would be better off, Daggero, if I stuck to healthy stuff! I love it, that Kashi means tiles! I am a great fan of tiles, too!
Morning, Undercovergaijin – It is supposed to go down to 0°C tonight and tomorrow night! I think Tokyo even gets snow sometimes, doesn’t it?
Hehehehehe @ Daggero: my father eats kashi every morning for breakfast, and I eat All-Bran. And my mother, who thinks those types of cereals taste awful, refers to them both as “cardboard”.
Khalti you can order it from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Kashi-GOLEAN-Cereal-14-1-Ounce-Boxes/dp/B001E5E05G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1230921712&sr=1-2. Without shipping its $4.28/box.

Rise and shine
where are the sunrise picture of this frigid day
Good Morning
Little Diamond, LOL, I agree with your Mom on All-Bran! I don’t know how you can eat it! But then I like Shredded Wheat, and AdventureMan thinks it is just purely awful.
Daggero – You wouldn’t believe it. AdventureMan awoke this morning very early, before sunrise we were headed for the Early Bird – only to find it closed until after tomorrow! We went to a little place in Fehaheel and had a Kuwaiti breakfast, and oh, was it good! But . . . no sunrise photo; I was swept away, and loved every minute of it.
Nice post ! Ever since I started visiting your blog I’ve never had to check the days weather forecast. Nice sunrise shots too !
by the way could someone gimme directions to the early bird ? or is it meant to be a secret location ? 😛
Mathai, I have Weather Underground: Kuwait on my Dashboard, I use it so often.
Early Bird Directions.
From Highway 30 (Fehaheel Expressway), exit 212 going toward Fehaheel.
From Gulf Road, 212 going toward 30 (Fehaheel Expressway)
At Mekka Street (also called Restaurant Road) turn South toward Fehaheel. You will pass at least two schools on the right, then also on the right, you will see a mid-sized roadside shack-y looking stand with (I think Pepsi on it) a long corrugated metal shade. When you see this, you know you will take the next right that is a real road.
After you have taken the right, you take the first left that is a real road. Almost immediately, turn right into a sort-of apartment and small business courtyard. The Early Bird is a very very small restaurant about 50 feet on your right. Across from it is a shipping company with signs that say “Do not park here!”
Getting there is part of the fun!
thanks!
