Cold, So Cold in Kuwait

Last night, in the middle of the night, even my normal blanket and the Qatteri Cat weren’t enough. I was COLD. It seeped right through the blankets and into my hips. I was too sleepy to get up, and shifted position, trying to find a warm place, but finally, I had to give up and go get another blanket.

“Do you need some more blanket?” I asked AdventureMan, but he said no, he was fine. I covered up the Qatteri Cat entirely, and in moments was warm and toasty and drifting back into sleep.

A couple hours later I feel a nudge and a cold leg drifting up next to me, and AdventureMan whispers “I’m cold!”

I tell him to snuggle up, but then he says he is still cold and I remind him there is another blanket on the end of the bed, and he, too, covers up and is quickly back to sleep.

When I got up this morning, it was cold, so cold I have to wear slippers on the cold marble tiles, and a shawl against the chill. Even hot coffee isn’t enough; soon I have to head for the shower, a nice HOT shower.

Weather Underground says it is -1°C in Kuwait. I believe it. I believe with the wind chill, it feels even colder.

And, Daggero, just for you, that icy-cold sunrise you asked about yesterday (although check later today, to my surprise, I do have a sunrise from yesterday!)

Not a cloud in sight. Only that pollution laying out there on the horizon. I can only imagine the chaos snow would dump on the Kuwait traffic. It would be utter bedlam.

Bundle up, Kuwait! It is COLD out there!

  10. Oh, Kinano, I cannot imagine how cold it is in Sweden! I wonder, has anyone tried to teach you cross-country skiing? It really warms you up (I hate it myself, too much work, the thrill-seeker part of me loved downhill until I broke my leg!)

Oh, Bu Yousef, your poor dog! How are the pigeons doing?

LOL, Grey, I am in a “modern” building, and the cold seems in through the “sealed” windows, whistles through the cracks. I think keeping anything sealed in this country is problematic; I am guessing the summer heat, intense and persistent, can break down most seals.

I am liking it, too, Amu. It is very comfortable for all kinds of ACTIVITY! Doesn’t it make you feel energetic?

Jewaira – I am loving it too! The days are so wonderful, and we get to wear sweaters, and fleeces and beautiful shawls and boots, and scarves. We can walk and walk and have all kinds of fun. I love this time of year!

Ummadam – all Alaska girls know about wind-chill! šŸ˜‰ But the truth is, I think Chicago gets colder than Alaska! The sea can moderate a lot of the cold, but in Chicago, you get those Arctic dips and oh – those winds!

Ansam – Chicken Soup! Eat your chicken soup! It truly fights those germs and boosts your immune system!

Little Diamond – Hee heee heee – it is no where near as cold as DM or NY or Beirut or Damascus . . . and the days are wonderful! High fifty’s (F) to high 60’s, full strength sunshine, it is heaven.

Daggero – just wait – there is another post en route just for you, with yesterday’s icy sunrise. šŸ™‚
