Honored Guest
In every country where I have lived, we have felt like honored guests. This week, I have been truly honored, my blogging friend Hilaliya has asked me to be an occasional guest blogger on his revamped blog, now featuring a Kuwait Blogging Diwaniya. Pretty cool, huh? I have to admit it, I have a smile from ear to ear.
The revered blogger Don Veto led the way with an article yesterday, and I jumped in today.
In honor of my ear-to-ear smile, it’s called Smile for me Baby – Let Me See Your Grill but fair warning – it’s political polemic, about parliamentary gridlock, so you will see a grittier side of Intlxpatr.

Congrats – how cool, Intlxpatr! Nicely phrased, nicely gritty, guest article (even to one quite removed, as I am). What an honor it must be to be so respected in your host country.
(Although I was initially wide-eyed imagining that you had suffered some sort of lapse and had installed a magnificent set of gold and diamond studed braces on your teeth, you gangsta, you! LOL!)
Sparkle – Ummm. . . well, maybe notorious.
I am curious Intlxpatr – the rap reference reminded me – what music do you listen to, I don’t recall any posts about a ‘special album’ or song – I could be mistaken.
Oh Amer, I like all kinds of music, including popular music, some of it just tickles me. I haven’t been listening for a while, but I liked Smile for Me Baby, and I liked Ridin’ Dirty, some of them are just funny and great tunes.
I collect old Christmas music, and by old, I mean some of the oldest, from France, from Spain, German, England, the eastern European countries – music strongly influenced by tunes and instruments from the Middle East.
I also listen to Ladysmith Black Mombaza, Loreena McKinnett, Anonymous 4, old Beatles and Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and traditional hymns of joy and praise. Now and then you’ll see a song on my blog from U-Tube. Usually it’s something that’s gotten stuck in my head and I can’t get it out. 🙂 Sometimes I will hear something on BBC and I will order it. Often I just pass it along; maybe there is one good piece on a CD. I tried an iPod, but it just was too fiddly for me.
I know it is not “music” but we have one incredible muezzin in our neighborhood who wakes me at Fajr and it is a delight – he is SO good, sounds like he has a trained voice.
