Here There and Everywhere

Expat wanderer

Thank You

At some hour, while I was sleeping, the blog hit 1M hits. Pretty cool, even though it is just a number.

AdventureMan said “how about if I take you out for dinner tonight to celebrate.”

(Thursday night is always date night. We always go out for dinner. He was being funny.)

But he reminded me that I used to thank my readers, and I haven’t done that for a long time.

Most of us who blog, and who continue blogging (it’s the continuing part that is hard work) blog because that’s the way God made us – he created us wanting to share the written word. For me, it’s sort of like thinking out loud, and many times I throw out ideas hoping to get other points of view to help me see things more fully, from more perspectives.

You, my readers, have given me unexpected points of view many, many times, and I thank you. Months after I write an article, you will read it and comment – and I read every comment. Thank you.

Coming soon, AdventureMan and I are starting a whole new adventure. I’m not so sure I am going to continue blogging. I won’t be living in an exotic country; I will be living a more normal American life, as a Grandmama. I know it will fascinate me, but I am not so sure you will find it all that interesting, LOL.

Again, thank you for your support and input these three years of blogging, and for finding me and my ideas and my fascination with current events much more interesting than I find myself. 😉

And, for those of you who always ask, yes, the Qattari Cat will be going with us, and yes, he is till with us (crying right now because AdventureMan has left for work and his heart is broken), I just haven’t taken a lot of photos lately because mostly he sleeps, and he looks pretty much the same.

  1. unacceptable.ur blogging spree should not, WILL not end now or anytime soon.

surely u will live up to ur slogan, here there AND everywhere. even if that somewhere is changing diapers (not urs hopefully) and complaining about the weather.

u will devastate those of us that thank god for having internet connections to be able to read your blog, solely.

I think there is a website that put a price ( virtual $$$) on Blogs , I wonder what is the number for your blog .

I will always look forward to Blogs from the states especially from people who lived in the middle east , it sheds a different light on life there

Good Luck in your Adventure with Adventure Man

  4. Hmmm. Daggero, you (and Mrm above) are two of my best commenters for putting a new perspective on things . . . yes. You are right. Living in the states will look a whole lot different after living here.

We have a sort of informal group, the ‘one foot out the door group’ that shares concerns about re-entry. It’s like the Kuwait students who go to school in the US and UK, and then come home and see home with new eyes – it works the other way, too. And our friends and family laughingly accuse us of having ‘gone native’ but a part of us knows they are NOT kidding, and that we ARE different . . .the reason I would stop blogging is that i worry about boring you – and boring myself – blah blah blah about a very common life. But . . . perhaps if I am seeing with new eyes, I will have something to write about. Thank you. good point.

Nah, iM isn’t such a big thing; if you want big numbers, ICHC and Mark’s blog, 248 am are HUGE numbers.

  5. Congrats, Intlxpatr, on the milestone!
And, along with the others, I say don’t stop to blog! You will always have interesting things to share.

  6. So, I’m thinking I’ve got a couple thousand of those hits. Even though our “group” will be in the US, I agree with those who urge you to continue your blog. The exotic photos, thoughts on living in the Middle East, etc. are fascinating, but mainly I enjoy your unique “take” on things. That will be the same no matter where you live.

  7. Thank you, Sparkle. See you soon, insh’allah! 🙂

Grammy, I am guessing most of those hits are about ten people who love me. Probably my Mom and you, my niece, some of my reading friends, and then some of the good spirits I have met in this virtual world. 🙂

  8. Congratulations on that number! 🙂

I’ve always loved your blog and it would be very sad if you stopped. You’re not doing it for us, it’s for you, write whatever you find fascinating and we’ll be here appreciating the way you write your posts (I do like the way you write, a lot!)

Hi AdventureMan! Don’t let her quit! We’ll blame you! 😛 (nah just kidding)

  10. LOL, Yousef, and I enjoy your blog, too. Your blog is a here, there and everywhere as mine is!

Thank you Qatarfoodie 🙂 This moving stuff is a process. First we go buy a house, then we come back and pack out to ship our stuff . . . it takes a while.
