Where is Pensacola, FL?

It isn’t only my Kuwaiti friends . . . . many of my American friends don’t know where Pensacola is, either.

Pensacola is almost in Alabama.

You can see it at the far left of the map. It has a big bay, and a barrier island with a gorgeous, white sand beach. It is fairly unspoiled, as Florida goes, with more moderate temperatures, and some slight shift in seasons.

  1. It is located in the “pan handle” of Florida.
    Having lived in Alabama it is only a 5 hours drive from where I used to live.

  2. Palforce, it is like 10 – 30 minutes to the Alabama border from Pensacola! The panhandle is long, it takes like five hours to drive from Tallahassee to the border. I wonder how you liked Alabama?

  3. I loved it, I lived in Birmingham for 18 years and last 2 years I was in Montgomery, I enjoyed every bit of it.

    Alabama is stereotyped by being a retard state, while in fact they are conservative, down to earth very warm and kinds people.

    It is a very beautiful state, very clean and NO TRAFFIC!! NO GANGS!!

    Life is easy in Bama, cheap rent, large houses, clean roads, nice view, people treat you with open arms (this changed after 9/11).

  4. Holy Smokes! You’ve probably spent more time in Alabama than in Kuwait! You are right, there is a lot of beauty in Alabama, and gracious and well-mannered people.

    Yes I was born in Kuwait, left it when I was 17, lived more years in the states than anywhere.

    I love Alabama, I have a couple of famous friends, http://rickandbubba.com I used to go on their morning show a lot, but after 9/11 I stopped.

  6. I understand. And – at the same time – I am sorry you stopped. What we need, in my opinion, is more low-level interaction, you know, just people stuff. It’s harder to hate when you know people as people. You were an ambassador!

  7. I totally agree with you, at the end we are all human beings working to make ends meet.

    I’m American now, and proud of my Arabic roots.
    I try to take the best of both cultures and use in my life, and also leave the bad clusters of both cultures away from my life. There are a lot of ethical great treats Arabs can learn from the US.

  8. And we are a stronger country from the contribution of our Arab immigrants, thanks be to God!

    My niece, Little Diamond, at one time was teaching Arabic in the US, and the majority of her students were second generation Arab-Americans – learning Arabic! They had heard some things at home, but wanted to learn more about their roots. It was a very funny and warming experience. She is now living in Beirut, and loves every minute of it.

    Isn’t life funny?
