Scary Sunrise 20 January 2008

When I got up this morning, the sky was all pink, the water was all pink, it was a world of pink haze, very beautiful. Within moments, the light had shifted, the pink haze was gone and the sun began to rise, very dramatically, lighting up the clouds like you see on the ceilings of Renaissance chapels.

But wait! What is this? The sky is lit, the clouds are illuminated, but the brilliance of the sun is having a hard time breaking through the sludge hanging just over the horizon. I have a bad feeling, whatever it is that is strong and thick enough to block the sun, we are also breathing it.

It’s about 5°C warmer at 0800 than the last few days, with forcast of clouds and possible rain through Wednesday.

  3. It looks like it is much worse than when I left for the States about a year ago. I started to notice it around the time of the Iraq war.

You know, I really love your blog in general but these days especially your posts on Kuwaiti issues. They somehow keep me up to date with the little things I don’t have time to follow up with in my days in ‘the life of an aging gracelessly grad student’ 🙂 I especially enjoyed your posts about the pink and orange houses today- another eyesore for Kuwait’s horizon 🙂

  4. You know, they fade really fast. The very purpl-y pink that Chirp called a Barbie house has already faded. I suspect that orange will also fade quickly (although I wish they wouldn’t paint the trim that turquoise-blue, as those are Gator colors! (University of Florida’s colors are orange and blue; Seminole (FSU) colors are garnet and gold. There will be a test)

  5. Hello Intlxpatr! Kindly excuse me for the delayed reply…thks for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment.Well I have no clue of what ‘Kuwait Aggregator’ is,I blog to retain my sanity! 😀 (pls pardon my ignorance) I hv not been able to capture sunrise here, but had clicked a beautiful sunset on our way back from Wafra. Thanks for posting Social Issues and other Issues too, makes for nice reading. (I used to read two local newspapers, used to come up with news those were unreal and were never implemented..guess its the same with this 2,70,000 KD project as well!)

  6. Morning, Purnima!

The Kuwait Blog Aggregator is in the Blogroll on the right. If you click there, it will take you to a place where all the bloggers are either in Kuwait, or Kuwaiti, or people who blog about Kuwait. You can click on Safat, and ask to be included.

You will need to paste in your url so they can check your blog and see if it meets their criteria, and then you will have more visitors. It takes a little while, so be patient!
