No Credit
I discovered this site had linked to my Black Magic Chocolate Cake recipe. When I went there, they have published my recipe, but didn’t credit me, my blog, didn’t give any credit for having snatched the entry from my blog, word for word.
I tried to leave a comment, but you have to be signed in, and there was no where to sign in. I am SO totally annoyed.

Happens a lot.
Want me to spam/flood their site?
The title link points to your recipe on your blog, but it would have been better if they actually credited you.
Oh Mac, don’t tempt me. No, I don’t want you to flood their site. They only hurt my feelings, they didn’t do any damage to me. And sometimes those wars can get bloody – I wouldn’t want YOU to get hurt, either!
Don Veto, yeh, you are right, but who’s gonna click the title when the whole recipe is right there on that blog (?) which really is some guy’s marketing tool targeted to chocolate people. I regret being such a baby, I shouldn’t have even said anything, but that is one of MY really good recipes. Oh…….I am being a baby. Sorry.
How horrible. The recipe title does link back to your post at least.
Thanks for your sympathy, Stinni!
Hi Intlxpatr
Real pity when that sort of blatant plagiarism takes place. Good on you to “Name and Shame”.
Lets hope it was oversight and not deliberate
So whats the next nouth watering goodie
winslie
Golly, Winslie, I always check my commenters to make sure they aren’t some pornographers or girlies or something despicable, but your blog is so high level I can’t understand half of it. Glad you like the recipes! You cook AND do heuristics? Holy Smokes!
Probably Chocolate Mousse. 🙂
Email them and let them know what you think! That way they’ll learn that this can be very upsetting for some people. I got this email from their website.

*Now I’m wondering if Poelo Coelho would be angry with me for quoting an excerpt from his novel!*
Intlxpatr
Cheers for the compliment.
Got to eat, so might as well make it a wow factor.
I made thai green fish curry, sticky rice and my own version of tempura ever so light king prawns with three dips.
You got some kind of fixation with chocolate? Or is it a phase?
winslie
Thanks, Zin, for the address.
And no, I think most authors are delighted when their name is mentioned – anything to sell the latest book. It’s not like you put the entire book in your review, just enough to entice others to read it. I think that is allowable. Hmmmm, well, I do the same thing, so I am hoping it is allowable!
Winslie – Wow. Even tempura! WOW.
Yeh, I like chocolate, but I mostly try to put in recipes that will encourage people to try something – all the recipes I publish are EASY. It sounds like you are WAAAAYYYY beyond the easy recipes.
Intlxpatr
Just the very opposite, I cheat and try and find the easy way of doing the same thing. Will need to try and publish how I do it.
But then I am rubbish at cakes and puddings in general, fruit salad perhaps so your easy recipes are handy.
winslie
I hate to spoil your parade, but this is a common chocolate cake recipe used in the restaurant industry, because it’s relatively inexpensive compared to most other chocolate cake recipes. In fact they use it in baking 101 at the Cordon Bleu. One suggestion, though, use a higher quality cocoa, say 50 to 70% chocolate and you won’t have to use as much and it still would have a more intense chocolate flavor than the recipe presented. Just make sure it isn’t dutch processed.
Enjoy!
Thanks for your input, Vanessa, but this one was MY recipe they printed. They did connect it to my blog via the title, but without giving me any credit. If it is that common – copy it from someone else! I blog my recipes to encourage people who don’t do a lot of cooking/baking to try something new – and EASY.
And you are right, using a higher quality chocolate yields a higher quality cake. It’s not always easily available in the places we live.
There’s also a very similar recipe on allrecipes.com – Black Magic Cake. Doesn’t use any brand name products but it’s the same ingredients otherwise.
Though the allrecipes.com one uses only 1 cup of buttermilk, not 2.
I really want to try this cake but I’ve been baking so much lately that I’ll give myself a break first!
Chicken, I think it is a very old recipe from Hershey’s.
