Paying the Price
I had two wonderful days, Thursday and Friday, out and about all day in this wonderful Kuwait weather. Saturday was out again for a short time with Adventure Man and felt a tickle in my throat. No big deal, I figure it is just allergies, or the change in seasons; I drank some ginger tea and figured that would be the end of it.
Wrong!
Yesterday, it was hanging on, getting stronger. Here come the sneezes, the swollen sinuses, the watery bleary eyes, the sneezing and the coughing. Having a cold totally grosses me out. I’m not a person who gets dramatically and romantically ill, lying beautifully in bed while people bring me hot drinks and speak to me in soft voices. I look terrible! I want this cold gone now! I’ve upped the arsenel to Strepticils, Zinc tablets, Cranberry juice and antihistimines. It doesn’t matter; I am a wreck.
I’m better during the day, it’s night time that gets me – I wake up choking and coughing, my sinuses hurt, my nose is running. . . and I sleep fitfully, with weird dreams, so sometimes I can’t tell if I am dreaming or awake.
The Qatteri Cat faithfully follows me everywhere I go. I am sleeping in the guest bedroom so Adventure Man doesn’t have to suffer through this with me, but QC just makes comforting noises and snuggles up to me.
I have a lot to do this week. Please keep me in prayer for a speedy recovery!

Get well soon 😀
Oh, and drink lots of fluids.
Get well sooon!!!!! Like Kinano said, drink lots of fluids (good ones ;p) and stay well rested 🙂
Salamaat 😀
There’s a terrible bug going around this year; almost 90% of people in my office took at least 2 sick days off in October.
I always wondered what’s the best way to combat Mr Flu Bug: Get plenty of rest or be active.
Whenever my dad so much as only sneezes, he takes a week off work, stays in bed and every 5 minutes screams out loud, “Oh Gooooooooood” (he says it in Farsi so it’s hilarious:) The house will be soaked in the funny smell his array of herbal drinks gives off, and for some reason he refuses to comb his hair 😀
Now, whenever my mom gets sick…well actually noone in the house has any idea when she becomes sick and when she recovers; she never rests. She says that’s why she recovers fast; she drinks and eats all the right stuff and stays active. Of course that was in the past, when she had the energy; these days she too gets her rest.
I take after my father…always have 😀
*prays for a speedy recovery*
Ohhhhh can we hear about those weird dreams ;p
hope you get better soon sweetheart
Godspeed, Seattle mama! We have you in our prayer.
In your situation the further away you stay from Qatari cat ( for now) the better it’s going to be all round.
And you must consume chicken soup twice a day. It isn’t for no reason they call it chicken soup for “the out and about in the nippy weather ” soul. Antihistamines, Zinc and Vit. C are fine but remember to pop your Zinc + Vit. C supplement with a glass of cold water on an empty stomach. Other than that, plenty of hydration with warm fluids and staying in bed, should suffice. I don’t know about you but whenever I am feeling under the weather I always like to kiss the internet and the telly goodbye till I am completely back on my feet again.
Thank you, Kinan – I will do that.
Thank you, Chirp, I really want to get well fast!
Mirror – LLLOOOOLLLL. For me, it helps to laugh. I can do what your Mom does, but I pay a price – the cold hangs on. Thanks be to God, I don’t often catch anything. And I am like a sick cat, I just crawl off and hide.
Chika, you are so kind to stop and comment in the midst of your own grief. Thank you, sweetie.
BL – that’s you, isn’t it? I have to laugh – try telling that to QC! He thinks his job is to cuddle up and keep me warm. I find it comforting.
I looked for Chicken soup! I’m a believer! I’ve let out stock dwindle, somehow. Maybe AM can bring me some. And thanks for the info on the zinc and vitamins with cold water and empty stomach – I didn’t know that.
Yeh, I need to be better quickly, and I am spending a lot of time just sleeping or trying to sleep. Thanks for your good information!
Oh, now that the weather is getting so much better it would be a shame to get sick! I honestly hope you get better very soon! 🙂 Take a vacation, that always does wonders! :p
😦 That’s the pits!! I hope you feel better soon!
N. – I like your advice . . . . a vacation! Sounds good to me!
thank you, Global Gal, and I am actually feeing human once again today! 🙂

LLOOLL! Welcome, sweetnothings. 🙂
i hope you feel better, oh and by the way, you might have swine-09, a lot of kids at my office have it,
You know, Funny Girl, I wrote this post two years ago, but I always seem to get this same cold in November. It feels a whole lot like allergies. I am just getting over it now, but it is definitely worse after I have been outside. I am betting that the wind has shifted and is bringing dust in from somewhere I am allergic to.
